Ministerial meetings

BASREC was established by the energy ministers of the Baltic Sea Region in order to pursue sustainable development in the region and develop regional solutions to the challenges of economic growth and security of supply and climate.

BASREC used to be a ministerial process with a mandate for a three-year period. Meetings were held on demand and at least once in the third year at the end of the three-year period.

The latest ministerial meeting took place in Berlin on 14-15 May 2012.

No BASREC meetings at minister’s level are foreseen, for the time being as the BASREC format was revised in 2015.

At the ministerial meetings the ministers used to make decisions on the content of the energy cooperation in the region in the next three-year period.
